A Long-Winded Explanation

I was born on the night of the 64th Academy Awards. The Silence of the Lambs was awarded Best Picture, but I promise that's not a sign I'm secretly a psychopath. I'm really quite lovely.

My youth was filled with awkward bowl cuts, being mistaken as a boy in McDonald's, having my stylish jelly shoes melt in the Arizona heat, getting pooped on by a bird at the zoo, and rocking my brand new bike helmet in the middle of Burger King. To say I was an awesome child would be the understatement of the year.

We'll skip over middle school, because no one peaks during that horrible time. High school brought about the big question of what I wanted to do with my life. My dreams of being a Broadway musical ingénue were dashed early on, given that I towered over the male leads and no one - other than my loving parents - wanted to watch my long limbs flailing about. Broadcast journalism intrigued me, but let's be honest, I wanted to be on TV. Ironically (and sacrilegious in retrospect), my sights were set on University of Oklahoma for college. I grew up visiting my grandparents in Norman, and it was a safe bet. Luckily, the University of Texas came out of nowhere and stole my heart after a tour on an idyllic Fall day.
